One For the Money; Movie Trailer, And my sad, sad dissapointment.

Okay so, the Stephanie Plum series is my favorite book series!
And I was super excited when I saw that they were making a movie out of the first book!
(Came upon the trailer over at tales of a rambling redhead)
But I'm sorely disappointed.

Here are my problem.
A. I love Katherine Heigl, but she's too perfectly pretty (and naturally blonde) to be Stephanie Plum!
B. The guy they have playing Ranger? Not nearly sexy or manly enough to pull off the character. And he's kind of ruining my mental Ranger image!
C. Grandma Mazur (played by Debbie Reynolds) is supposed to be this little waif of an old lady, who's crazy and awesome, and scary, all at the same time. (Debbie Reynolds is just too classy to pull it off!!)
D. Joe Morelli is not Irish. (Anyone see a problem there?)

And really the whole thing is cast terribly, terribly wrong.
Some options that (I think) would have been better suited.
Joe Morelli:
Jeffrey Dean Morgan
Michael Weatherly
Okay so maybe the second over the first (ya know, cause of the whole Irish thing). But either would have been better than what was chosen. Nothing against Jason O'Mara I just don't think this was his character.

Ranger:
The Rock

Now, he's not the perfect casting either. But he puts off that same sexy dangerous ora that Ranger does in the books, and I can totally see it working.
Grandma Mazur:
Cloris Leachman
Betty White
Cloris Leachman just fits the part perfectly. And Betty White is just plain badass!
Stephanie Plum:
Alyssa Milano
She might be too perfectly pretty too, but I've seen her be rough, and I've heard her Jersey accent. It would have worked! (And possibly Sandra Bullock as another option.)
Honestly I could go on to recast the entire move except for maybe the parents, they seemed decently cast. But I really was disappointed by the trailer. I'll still see the movie, but I don't think it will be a go to the movies viewing.

I always see The Rock when I read Ranger. That guy they cast is too wimpy lol

Yeah, I agree, Kathrine Heigel is just too pretty and glamorous, but I think she did well given the circumstances.
Lula, in my opinion, was the only one who they casted right.
Yeah, the guy playing Ranger, he's a pretty boy.

Yea, I don't doubt her abilities to play the part I just don't think the movie was cast according to the books. Like, at all! The guy playing Ranger is just too pretty. I think that's the one that really bothers me, cause I have such a picture of who Ranger is supposed to be in my head! Lol.

Thanks for the review! I know how it is to read a book and then see the movie & think it was totally wrong. The movie is almost never as good as the book! xox

They never are! If a movie is coming out that I know is based off a book I haven't read, I'll hold off on reading the book, just to give the movie a fighting chance!

Consider me your newest follower. And I entered the giveaway too! :)

I've never read the books, but I love me some Jeffrey Dean Morgan. :)
